Telecommunications Access Maryland

IMAGE Center of Maryland is an Evaluation Center for the Maryland Accessible Telecommunications (MAT) Program

We are proud to be an evaluation center for the Maryland Accessible Telecommunications (MAT) program, serving approved MAT applicants in Baltimore City, Baltimore County and Harford County.

Overseen by Telecommunications Access of Maryland (TAM), the MAT program offers telecommunications equipment, provided by the state of Maryland, to qualified residents who cannot use a standard telephone. Equipment available through the MAT program includes amplified phones, captioned telephones, ring signalers, tablets, large-button telephones, hands-free phones, and more.

To qualify for the MAT program, you must first submit an application and supporting documents to TAM certifying that you meet specific financial requirements and are not able to use a standard telephone due to your hearing status, speech difficulty, low vision, low mobility, or cognitive factors. Once approved, you will receive notification from TAM along with instructions for scheduling an evaluation to ensure you receive the equipment best suited to meet your needs.

How the Program Works:

  1. Apply for Equipment Provided by the State
To apply for the MAT program, complete the application and submit all required supporting documentation to TAM. Learn more about the application criteria and process.
  2. Schedule a Free, Personalized Evaluation
After your application is reviewed, you will be contacted to schedule a free evaluation, either at our location, or at another MAT evaluation center in your area. If you do not qualify for the program but would like to purchase equipment, you may still contact us to request a free evaluation to learn more about the different technologies available.
  3. Find a Solution that is Right for You
During your evaluation, you will work one-on-one with a MAT program specialist to try different equipment options and identify the one that works for you. See a sampling of solutions.
  4. Start Using your New Equipment!
Equipment is shipped to you within 6-10 weeks. Each device comes with personalized instructions for setup and use. You may also contact your MAT evaluator for additional training.
